Capitol Tunnel System [#39]

Regular price $30.00 $0.00

There’s an unknown world for most of the pedestrians, right under the Capitol Hill. Back when debates were based on evidence and not only on arguments, a young government praised the construction of the Library next to the Capitol. With time, it was necessary to create a system to transport books and people between buildings, and so a series of tunnels were designed. They are protected by security at every entrance, but they are mostly open to the public. Few months months ago, Elliot Carter from Architect of the Capital took me for a tour that unveiled the bizarre structures underground the Library of Congress and the buildings around it. This illustration is the result of several hours of conversations and walks.
